How to pick your wine for the holidays

The holidays are approaching. The mood is getting more and more festive. Plans are being made with family and friends for dinners out, house parties, who is visiting who before, during and after Christmas Day.

For the party hosts, an important question is: what wine should I get? There is the aperitivo, the different courses of the meal, dessert, the fireplace, fireworks, and else.

An initial suggestion from the Wild Wine Run crew? Buy local.

For actual wine options, see the list from the experts of Emerging Vines: read here their suggestions.

Wherever you are, buy local. Thre are good wines in so many countries including the UK, the point is that they are quite under the radar, although they are increasing in notoriety and quality and variety.

Pair them well with your food, but especially with un-paired situations, be bold and try something new. There is a lot on the horizon, just check your local winery or vineyard. If you don’t have one close-by, find the closest and they’ll likely have some holiday-season deals (and they usually ship anywhere in the country).

Salute!
